The populations of NYC and LA are eight and four million residents, respectively, compared to less than 500,000 in Atlanta, yet Atlanta's airport has been the busiest in the world for more than 20 years running. It's a behemoth, but once we start limiting records to international travel alone, it drops down the list and some pretty awesome airports arise.
Have you ever seen a 130-foot waterfall inside of an airport? How about an IMAX theater, a supermarket, butterfly gardens or shower facilities? If you travel a lot and absolutely dread having a layover, you've been traveling to the wrong countries. Some of these airports are destinations in themselves.
