The world in which we live can be a very dangerous place, not only because of vehicular accidents and crime but because of the many animals and organisms that surround us. Many of the different venoms contain neurotoxins, cardiotoxins, hemotoxins and mycotoxins that cause symptoms such as dizziness, extreme swelling and pain, paralysis, internal bleeding, cardiac arrest, respiratory failure and in some cases, death.
The word venomous is often mistaken for poisonous probably because they have similar effects, but the two are different based on the mechanisms of delivery. Venomous creatures need to bite, sting, or stab its victims while poisonous animals need to be either ingested or touched to feel its effects.
